Over 200 Local Officials Denounce Mining Bill
Senator Tiffany’s Senate Bill 395 Intensifies
MADISON – Opposition to Sen. Tom Tiffany’s Senate Bill 395 – his latest attempt to repeal the Prove It First mining law – is robust and growing among community leaders. As of today, more than 200 local elected officials have signed a letter opposing the bill. The letter was presented to legislators on Tuesday.
Executive Director Kerry Schumann had this to say: “Local elected officials are sounding the alarm about the potential damage to their communities and Senate Bill 395 is withering under the light of public scrutiny. Senate Bill 395, or more accurately, the Industrial Acid Mining Bill, runs roughshod over communities across the state.”
