Support LRB 0480/4: Getting Lead Out of Daycare Centers

Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters urges you to support LRB 0480/4, which is currently circulating for co-sponsorship.

Children with even low levels of lead in their blood can suffer profound and permanent health problems including damage to brain development. Young children in childcare centers can be exposed to lead-infested water without their parents’ knowledge. LRB 0480/4 would require childcare centers and providers to provide proof the drinking water in their building is lead-free when applying for certification.

Oppose LRB 1041/2: Undermining Dane County Zoning — Again

Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters urges you to oppose LRB 1041/2, which is currently circulating for co-sponsorship.

Poorly planned development can result in significant run-off pollution, loss of recreational areas, and impaired wildlife habitat. Once an area is developed, it is impossible to undo the unintended consequences of poor planning. LRB 1041/2 is a follow-up bill to last session’s Act 178, which undermined Dane County’s well-planned communities by allowing town governments to opt out of county zoning. This legislation, which only applies to Dane County, is another example of the state legislature arbitrarily undermining the ability to create well-designed communities.

Conservation NOW announces the pro-conservation positions on issues before the Senate, Assembly and/or Governor in the week ahead to state legislators. Others wishing to follow activities in the state legislature also receive Conservation NOW, including legislative staff, conservation voters, and media. All of these issues are tracked on our website.
