Conservation NOW: November 9, 2017

THIS WEEK’S NOTICES:

Support SB 48: Leading on Lead

Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters urges you to support passage of SB 48, which is before the full Assembly on Thursday. We urge legislators to oppose any amendments to the bill.

Wisconsinites have a right to safe, lead-free drinking water. Currently, water utilities have little flexibility to help homeowners replace lead pipes in their homes and on their property. Children with even low levels of lead in their blood can suffer profound and permanent health problems including damage to brain development. SB 48 would allow local communities to provide greater financial assistance to homeowners replacing lead pipes in their homes.

Support SB 421: Clean Water Infrastructure in State Parks

Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters urges you to support SB 421, which is before the full Assembly on Thursday.

Many citizens enjoy our state parks and they are an important part of our state’s economy. Maintaining the facilities at our state parks improves visitor experience and decreases unintended water pollution issues. SB 421 would allow the DNR to used unobligated Stewardship funding from previous budgets to make necessary upgrades to the water infrastructure at state parks.
