AB 298: Getting Lead Out of Daycare Centers

Children with even low levels of lead in their blood can suffer profound and permanent health problems including damage to brain development. Young children in childcare centers can be exposed to lead-infested water without their parents’ knowledge. AB 298 would require childcare centers and providers to provide proof the drinking water in their building is lead-free when applying for certification.
AB 298 was introduced and referred to the Assembly Committee on Energy and Utilities. The bill died at the end of the session.
