SB 22/AB 50: Water Sustainability Act
This bill is:
February 06, 2017
All water is connected. When groundwater is depleted, all water users – from businesses to municipalities, from farmers to anglers – pay the price. Citizens across Wisconsin are already experiencing the impacts of diminishing groundwater levels. SB 22 & AB 50 create a mechanism to identify areas where water withdrawals are not sustainable, and they create systems for the development and deployment of a science-based plan to bring those withdrawals back in balance.
SB 22 has been referred the Senate Natural Resources and Energy Committee. It is available to be scheduled for a public hearing. AB 50 has been referred to the Assembly Committee on Environment and Forestry. It is available to be scheduled for a public hearing.
