Home Weatherization Program through Couleecap can help you improve energy efficiency in your home. If you received Wisconsin’s Home Energy Assistance Program (WHEAP) fuel assistance you may be eligible for this program. Service areas include Crawford, La Crosse, Monroe, and Vernon Counties. The City of La Crosse’s Floodplain Relief Program helps property owners reduce their risk of flooding and reduce their flood insurance costs. Projects include removing structures in the 100-year floodplain, filling in damaged basements, bringing noncompliant structures into compliance, and relocating utilities. Habitat for Humanity of the Greater La Crosse Region’s RePair Program helps homeowners who struggle to maintain a safe and healthy home. The program focuses on emergency, aging-in-place, accessibility, and code violation repairs. City of La Crosse - Housing Rehabilitation
You can receive up to $35,000 to repair items such as roofing, siding, windows, electrical and more. This total loan amount is subject to the project’s “hard” costs (general repairs, not to exceed $25,000) and “soft” costs (addressing lead hazards, not to exceed $10,000). The City of La Crosse offers a 1 percent deferred loan. You make no payments until the property is sold or no longer your place of residence. You must be a City of La Crosse resident, meet income requirements, own and have equity in your home. Households above the income requirements may qualify if they live in low-income neighborhoods. City of La Crosse - Lead Safe Home Program
The City of La Crosse wants to make sure your family and children are safe from the harmful effects of lead-based paint. The Lead Safe La Crosse Program is now accepting applications. Qualifying families and landlords can receive a grant to have lead-paint work and minor repair done on their properties. If you qualify, we can conduct a free lead based paint inspection and risk assessment. If we find hazards, we can provide you with new windows, door, siding, trim, exterior & interior painting, porch repair, and home safety measures. Click here for more information and to apply
