  • Support AB 248: Specifying vacancies in appointive state offices
  • Oppose AB 421 & SB 420: Preventing local governments from passing rights of nature ordinances
  • Oppose AB 1033 & SB 1025: Endangering our lakes
  • Support SB 628: The Water Pollution Notification Act

Oppose AB 130: Letting PFAS polluters off the hook

Wisconsin Conservation Voters urges you to oppose AB 130, which is before the Assembly on Thursday.

To protect Wisconsin communities from PFAS contamination, we need to hold polluters accountable. AB 130 works against this goal by creating broad exemptions to Wisconsin’s spills law, a tool that has protected Wisconsinites from pollution for decades.

Oppose AB 131: Unaccountable PFAS polluters and unfunded PFAS programs

Wisconsin Conservation Voters urges you to oppose AB 131, which is before the Assembly on Thursday.

To protect Wisconsinites from PFAS contamination, we need to hold polluters accountable. We also need to fund existing drinking water programs. AB 131 includes a dangerously broad exemption to Wisconsin’s spills law, a tool that has protected Wisconsinites from pollution for decades. It also doesn’t guarantee any money will ever be distributed to impacted communities.

Support AB 248: Specifying vacancies in appointive state offices

Wisconsin Conservation Voters urges you to support AB 248, which is before the Assembly on Thursday.

Unless reappointed, officials in public office shouldn’t be able to stay in their position once their term expires. AB 248 specifies that a vacancy is created when an official’s term expires.

Oppose AB 421 & SB 420: Preventing local governments from passing rights of nature ordinances

Wisconsin Conservation Voters urges you to oppose AB 421 & SB 420, which are before the Assembly on Thursday.

Local governments are at the forefront of strategies that ensure Wisconsin is home to clean air, safe water, healthy soils, and rich biodiversity. AB 421 & SB 420 would undermine local control and limit local governments’ ability to protect our environment by preventing our cities, towns, and villages from enacting ordinances they see fit.

Oppose AB 1033 & SB 1025: Endangering our lakes

Wisconsin Conservation Voters urges you to oppose AB 1033 & SB 1025, which are before the Assembly on Thursday and the Senate Committee on Transportation and Local Government on Thursday.

Healthy lakes are central to healthy habitats and Wisconsin’s $11.2 billion outdoor recreation economy. AB 1033 & SB 1025 endanger the health of our lakes by placing insufficient restrictions on wake surfing and other enhanced-wake activities, which can damage lakebeds, shorelines, and aquatic habitats.

Support SB 628: The Water Pollution Notification Act

Wisconsin Conservation Voters urges you to support SB 628, which is before the Senate Committee on Natural Resources, Veteran, and Military Affairs on Thursday.

Wisconsin families have a right to know if their drinking water might be contaminated. The one third of Wisconsinites who rely on private wells are rarely notified about nearby contamination. SB 628 would require the DNR to notify local health officials when they’ve identified groundwater contamination, giving those local health officials the tools they need to notify impacted people. This would ensure impacted people can take proactive steps to protect their families from drinking contaminated water.

Conservation Notices of the Week (CNOW) announces the pro-conservation positions on issues before the Senate, Assembly and/or Governor in the week ahead to state legislators. Others wishing to follow activities in the state legislature also receive CNOW, including legislative staff, conservation voters, and media. All of these issues are tracked on the Vote Tracker. Issues in the CNOW may appear in the Conservation Scorecard, to be released in the summer of 2026.
