Co-sponsor LRB 2794 and 5586: Funding the UW Freshwater Collaborative

Wisconsin Conservation Voters urges you to support LRB 2794 and 5586, which are circulating for co-sponsorship.

To protect Wisconsin’s waters, we need to fund programs that bring people together and encourage water-related collaborations across Tribal nations, state government, the private sector, and nonprofits. LRB 2794 and LRB 5586 would increase funding for the University of Wisconsin System’s Freshwater Collaborative, which fuels these collaborations to prepare the next generation of water-sector leaders.

Co-sponsor LRB 2940: Restoring local limitations on single-use products

Wisconsin Conservation Voters urges you to support LRB 2940, which is circulating for co-sponsorship.

To tackle climate change and limit the waste clogging our landfills, we need to reduce our reliance on fossil fuel intensive, single-use products like plastic bags. LRB 2940 would restore local communities' ability to enact policies that reduce our reliance on these products.

Co-sponsor LRB 4601: Establishing the Revitalize Wisconsin Program

Wisconsin Conservation Voters urges you to support LRB 4601, which is circulating for co-sponsorship.

To protect the health of our communities, we need to ensure pollution is quickly cleaned up. LRB 4601 would establish the Revitalize Wisconsin program, to provide grants to local governments and private parties to help clean up environmental pollution.

Co-sponsor LRB 5171 and 5587: Funding the Groundwater Coordinating Council

Wisconsin Conservation Voters urges you to support LRB 5171 and 5587, which is circulating for co-sponsorship.

To protect the two thirds of Wisconsinites who rely on groundwater as their source for drinking water, we need to fund research that protects it. LRB 5171 and 5587 provide funding for the University of Wisconsin System and the DNR to support their responsibilities related to the Wisconsin Groundwater Coordinating Council.

Co-sponsor LRB 5243: Expediting lead pipe removal

Wisconsin Conservation Voters urges you to support LRB 5243, which is circulating for co-sponsorship.

Elevated lead levels in children's blood can lead to brain damage, reduced IQs, and behavioral problems. To protect Wisconsin communities from the dangers of lead poisoning and ensure compliance with new proposed rules from the Environmental Protection Agency, we need to remove all lead pipes within 10 years. LRB 5243 would increase the bonding authority for Wisconsin’s Safe Drinking Water Loan Program to help ensure more Wisconsin communities can quickly access the resources they need to expedite lead pipe removal.

Co-sponsor LRB 5401 and 5561: Funding private well testing and education

Wisconsin Conservation Voters urges you to support LRB 5401 and 5561 which is circulating for co-sponsorship.

To protect the one third of Wisconsinites who rely on private wells as their source for drinking water, we need to fund testing and educational efforts around potential groundwater contamination. LRB 540 and 5561 create a grant program for community-based well testing and educational efforts.

Conservation Notices of the Week (CNOW) announces the pro-conservation positions on issues before the Senate, Assembly and/or Governor in the week ahead to state legislators. Others wishing to follow activities in the state legislature also receive CNOW, including legislative staff, conservation voters, and media. All of these issues are tracked on the Vote Tracker.
