CNOW Week of Nov. 8, 2021

This week's notices:

  • Oppose SB 621 & AB 624: Undermining the Will of Voters, Part 1
  • Oppose SB 622 & AB 625: Undermining the Will of Voters, Part 2

Oppose SB 621 & AB 624: Undermining the Will of Voters, Part 1

Wisconsin Conservation Voters urge you to oppose SB 621 & AB 624, which are before the full Senate on Monday and before the Assembly Committee on State Affairs on Monday.

To protect the health and the health of our planet, we must build a democracy where elected officials are accountable to their constituents. Partisan redistricting works against this goal by creating non-competitive districts that allow politicians to ignore the will of their constituents. SB 621 & AB 624 double down on partisan redistricting by making few changes to the current, highly-gerrymandered senate and assembly districts. This undermining of accountability would make it harder for Wisconsinites to ensure that the state legislature delivers on protecting our drinking water, fighting climate change, and building a democracy that works for everyone.

Wisconsin Conservation Voters urge you to oppose SB 622 & AB 625, which are before the full Senate on Monday and before the Assembly Committee on State Affairs on Monday.

Partisan redistricting works against this goal by creating non-competitive districts that allow politicians to ignore the will of their constituents. SB 622 & AB 625 double down on partisan redistricting by making few changes to the current, highly-gerrymandered Wisconsin congressional districts. This undermining of accountability would make it harder for Wisconsinites to ensure that congress delivers on protecting our drinking water, fighting climate change, and building a democracy that works for everyone.

Conservation Notices of the Week (CNOW) announces the pro-conservation positions on issues before the senate, assembly and/or governor in the week ahead to state legislators. Others wishing to follow activities in the state legislature also receive CNOW, including legislative staff, conservation voters, and media. All of these issues are tracked on the Vote Tracker. Issues in the CNOW may appear in the Conservation Scorecard.
