David Crowley: the right leader for Wisconsin

Growing up, David Crowley didn’t have it easy. He experienced firsthand many of the same struggles Wisconsinites across the state face today. He knows what it’s like to work hard yet still have difficulty keeping up with the rising costs of housing, groceries, health care, and utility bills.

Those experiences shaped his approach to leadership. He started as a community organizer before being elected to the state Assembly to serve his community. At 33, he was elected executive of Wisconsin’s largest county. Now in his second term as Milwaukee County Executive, he continues to deliver real results for the people he represents. As a husband and father of three, he knows times are tough for so many. He’s running for governor so all Wisconsin families have what they need to not only survive, but to thrive. Click the plus (+) signs below to learn more about him.

David Crowley will stand up to Big Tech and put regulations in place to protect Wisconsin communities and our environment from the impacts of data centers. He’ll require that data centers pay their full share in energy and water costs so Wisconsinites' utility bills aren’t subsidizing billion and trillion dollar corporations. He will require transparency and ban non-disclosure agreements that hide the impacts on local communities. He’ll make sure they’re powered by 100 percent cheap, fast, clean energy sources like wind and solar. We can trust David Crowley to stand up to greedy Big Tech, electric utilities, and data center developers to protect local Wisconsin communities.

Yes, he will help deliver on affordability. David Crowley knows hard work isn’t always enough to pay the bills. Affordability isn’t a buzzword to him, it’s something he will work hard every day to deliver for all Wisconsinites. He’ll push back on corporate electric utilities who keep demanding rate hike after rate hike, making your bills more and more expensive. He won’t allow corporations and billionaires to get tax cuts and handouts while you’re working hard to keep up with basic needs. He’ll fight every day to make sure other families don’t have to experience the same things he’s faced.

Yes. He will work to keep energy costs low. Electric bills are skyrocketing for Wisconsinites. We can keep our electric bills low by building more clean energy like wind and solar, which are cleaner, cheaper, and faster to build. David Crowley will stand up to greedy corporate electric utilities who want to maximize profit and jack up your electric bills by building more dirty, expensive gas power plants. As Milwaukee County Executive, David Crowley has already reduced the county’s carbon emissions by 50 percent and helped people make their homes more energy efficient. David will commit to Wisconsin 100 percent clean energy by 2050 so we can lower our energy bills, create good paying jobs, and ensure we have a healthy environment for future generations.

David has the record to prove he can do both. Energy bills are skyrocketing faster than inflation and greedy corporate electric utilities continue to demand rate hikes. Instead of keeping our bills low by building more clean energy like wind and solar which are cleaner, cheaper, and faster, greedy corporate utilities are doubling down on dirty, expensive gas power plants to maximize their profits. Milwaukee County Executive, David Crowley has already reduced the county's carbon emissions by 50 percent. David Crowley will commit to Wisconsin 100 percent clean energy by 2050 so we can lower our energy bills, create good paying jobs, and ensure we have a healthy environment for future generations.

Yes. David Crowley will hold corporations accountable. For too long, corporations and billionaires have not paid their full share and not been held accountable to the law. When they pollute our land, air, and water, they’ll be held responsible and will pay the full cost for clean up. These companies have amassed record profits while working Wisconsinites struggle to pay their bills. He’ll make sure Wisconsinites aren’t subsidizing corporate polluters and billionaires and that they pay their full share.

He will re-authorize the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program. Enjoying the outdoors is a way of life in Wisconsin. For nearly 40 years, the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program supported buying and maintaining public lands for all to enjoy. From playgrounds in Chippewa Falls to bike trails in Green Bay to the Lower Wisconsin State Riverway and more than 1,500 projects in every corner of the state, this program helps people enjoy the best of what Wisconsin has to offer. Despite its success and popularity, the Republican-controlled legislature let the program die this year. David Crowley will revive this program and make sure our public lands have the resources needed so Wisconsinites can continue to enjoy them for generations to come.

Yes. David Crowley will protect our democracy and our most fundamental right. Donald Trump is a threat to our democracy. He tried to throw out votes after he lost in 2020 and he’s now threatening to take over our elections. We need a leader to stand up to his authoritarian aspirations. David Crowley will stand up to Trump and protect our freedom to vote. He will ensure every eligible voter in Wisconsin has access to cast their ballot without interference from the federal government.

Yes, he does. He follows the science and understands the threat of climate change. When Tom Tiffany was in the Republican-controlled legislature he led the charge to kneecap, defund, and censor the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) because he didn’t want them to get in the way of his corporate polluter campaign donors. David Crowley will take the politics out of the DNR and instead appoint leadership based on science and expertise. He will make sure they have the funding they need to hold corporate polluters accountable and to protect our environment for future generations.

David Crowley will restore funding to our beloved state parks. Wisconsin’s state parks are a crown jewel of our beautiful state. From Devil’s Lake to Copper Falls to Peninsula, Wisconsinites have access to nature right outside their doors. We don't have to travel far to experience all of the beauty of our state. But years of neglect and funding cuts from the likes of Tom Tiffany when he was in the Republican-controlled legislature have put our parks into disrepair. David Crowley will fund our state parks and support our critical tourism industry and ensure that they can continue to be enjoyed for future generations.

Yes. David Crowley is a staunch advocate for clean water across Wisconsin. Wisconsinites should be able to trust the water that comes out of their taps – be that from municipal systems or private wells. But thousands of Wisconsinites deal with lead pipes, nitrate contamination from factory farm pollution, and toxic cancer-causing forever chemicals like PFAS. David Crowley will hold corporate polluters accountable and will ensure that no matter where they live every Wisconsinite has access to clean, safe drinking water.

“In Milwaukee Co., we know the climate crisis is a real, pressing threat to our environment, our economy, our health, and quality of life.”

-Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley

Wisconsin deserves a governor who understands the everyday challenges working families face and has a proven track record of delivering results.
