The 2025 Spring Election

The balance of the Wisconsin Supreme Court will be decided on April 1. This is your opportunity to preserve a pro-democracy, pro-conservation majority that will protect Wisconsin’s future for the next generation.

There are sure to be cases before the court that will impact Wisconsin’s ability to fight climate change, continue to invest in clean energy, protect our drinking water, and protect our right to vote.

The State Supreme Court also decides how federal environmental laws are implemented and how state agencies enforce environmental protections. There will likely be cases that will decide LGBTQ+ rights, abortion access, Act 10 and labor rights, and many more cases that impact our daily lives. That also includes acting as one of the most important pillars of defense against an extremist federal agenda being set by Trump and his MAGA sycophants.

With significant cases on the horizon, this election presents an opportunity to ensure that the highest court in the state remains fair, impartial, and committed to serving the people of Wisconsin — not corporate interests.

Judge Susan Crawford oversaw enforcement of environmental laws to protect Wisconsin’s environment and natural resources. Wisconsin Conservation Voters proudly endorses her for the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

    Endorsement of Judge Susan Crawford

We are proud to endorse Judge Susan Crawford for Wisconsin’s State Supreme Court. With a distinguished career spanning from prosecutor to private-practice attorney to Circuit Court Judge, Judge Crawford has consistently demonstrated a commitment to fairness, justice, and the protection of basic rights.

Judge Crawford grew up in Chippewa Falls. Her career began as an Assistant Attorney General with the Wisconsin Department of Justice, where she prosecuted hundreds of tough criminal cases, holding criminals accountable and ensuring the law was upheld. Her time leading criminal appeals and working with prosecutors, public defenders, and victim advocates across Wisconsin gave her a deep understanding of our justice system.

In her leadership roles at the Department of Corrections and Department of Natural Resources, Judge Crawford prioritized public service before transitioning to private practice, where she defended voting and workers' rights and worked with Planned Parenthood to protect reproductive healthcare access.

As a Dane County Circuit Court Judge, she presided over high-stakes trials, including homicide, sexual assault, and domestic violence cases, always prioritizing impartiality and the rule of law. Her approach to justice is rooted in fairness and a commitment to getting the facts right – an approach that will also help protect Wisconsin’s environment from corporate interests determined to buy access to the highest highest court in Wisconsin.

    Judge Susan Crawford will:

    • Protect Wisconsin's Constitution by ensuring a fair, impartial Supreme Court.
    • Enforce environmental laws to safeguard Wisconsin’s natural resources.
    • Defend constitutional rights against the threat of an extreme, unlawful right-wing agenda.

Judge Crawford will defend our democracy and protect Wisconsin’s natural resources. She is a strong advocate for the values that make Wisconsin great — fairness, accountability, and a commitment to serving the people, not polluters. Judge Crawford will ensure that our State Supreme Court remains independent and dedicated to upholding the rights and freedoms of all Wisconsinites.

We need a justice who is independent, committed to justice, and not beholden to corporate interests. We know Judge Susan Crawford embodies these values. We are proud to endorse her and encourage you to vote by Tuesday, April 1.

Tom Dawson has spent his career holding polluters accountable – as Wisconsin’s Public Intervenor and later as Director of the Environmental Protection Unit at the Wisconsin Department of Justice. But when Brad Schimel became Attorney General, environmental enforcement took a backseat. In this video, Tom shares how Schimel stacked key positions with industry insiders and let corporate polluters off the hook.

Brad Schimel: A dangerous relic of the Scott Walker Administration

Judge Crawford’s opponent, Brad Schimel, is a former Attorney General under Scott Walker. Schimel built a legacy of extreme positions on environmental issues that prioritized corporate interests above the people of Wisconsin. Throughout his career, Schimel has taken actions to undermine protections for clean water, air, and public health, while aligning himself with polluting corporate interests.

From prohibiting climate change discussions to weakening environmental enforcement to challenging federal protections – Schimel’s record shows a callous disregard for the well-being of Wisconsin’s communities, its people, and its environment. The actions below demonstrate why Schimel's approach to the environment is an extremist relic of the Walker era – one that must be left behind for a cleaner, safer, brighter and more equitable future for everyone living in Wisconsin.

As Scott Walker’s Attorney General, Brad Schimel put politics and polluters first:

The choice is clear on Tuesday, April 1. Judge Susan Crawford will lead with impartiality and fairness and will reject the extremist Walker era agenda of Brad Schimel.
