Conservation voters applaud Biden's American Jobs Plan

Mar 31, 2021

PITTSBURGH – President Biden today announced a historic investment in our country to create clean energy jobs. In a speech in Pittsburgh, President Biden laid out his American Jobs Plan showing how we can put millions back to work and invest in America’s future, right here in Wisconsin

Government Affairs Director Jennifer Giegerich had this to say of the plan:

“Through this investment, we will have the resources and the political will to begin addressing the crisis of climate change and unsafe drinking water, along with lack of investment in communities of color in our state.

Wisconsin Conservation Voters is ready to help pass this package to help the over 80 communities around the state with elevated lead levels in their water to remove lead pipes so that we have clean drinking water, and invest in communities that are making clean energy commitments, such as Green Bay, Menomonie, and Milwaukee. And most importantly, prioritizing this investment in communities most harmed by toxic pollution by ensuring nationwide that at least 40 percent of the benefits go to the communities that need it most.

Gov. Tony Evers and Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes laid out a bold and equitable climate plan last year and made safe drinking water a priority for everyone living in Wisconsin. As part of the Biden-Harris Administration’s Build Back Better Plan, the America Jobs Plan provides the necessary resources to make progress on a cleaner more equitable future while providing exciting opportunities for high-quality, union jobs that help rebuild the middle class. We call on the Wisconsin Congressional delegation to get this critical investment package passed. Wisconsinites can’t wait any longer.”
