MADISON – Wisconsin Conservation Voters applauds Gov. Tony Evers and Attorney General Josh Kaul’s announcement today to file lawsuits to hold big polluters accountable. The lawsuits target corporations which knowingly polluted Wisconsin’s water with Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), a highly toxic human-made “forever chemical” linked to a number of negative health effects including cancer, liver damage, fertility and birth impairment, decreased response to vaccines, and more.

“We applaud Gov. Evers and Attorney General Kaul for protecting the health of Wisconsinites and holding these polluters accountable,” said Executive Director Kerry Schumann. “These corporations knowingly put communities at risk when they polluted neighboring areas with PFAS – threatening the health and wellbeing of people and dumping huge financial burdens on them for clean-up and water testing. All people in Wisconsin deserve clean, safe drinking water. We’re grateful for state and local leaders who recognize this and work with communities to ensure they have the resources they need so all people can thrive.”
