Conservation voters save County Conservation funding

The staff of Soil and Water Conservation Departments help implement critical programs that prevent manure, fertilizer, sediment, and other chemicals from entering our waterways.

Gov. Walker’s proposed budget had slashed support for County Conservationists by a devastating $998,600. After receiving more than 32,000 letters from Conservation Voters across the state, the Joint Finance Committee restored the funding. The Wisconsin state budget was signed into law with the funding needed to maintain the County Conservation staff.
