2018 - Electoral Victory
Flipping an anti-conservation legislative seat
Conservation voters helped elect Patty Schachtner in a January special election in western Wisconsin’s 10th Senate District. It was a huge upset against one of the worst anti-conservation lawmakers in the state. This seat, which went heavily for Trump in 2016, pitted Rep. Adam Jarchow, a member of Wisconsin Conservation Voters’ Dishonor Roll, against our endorsed candidate, an avid sportswoman.
A crew of 14 volunteers made thousands of calls to members and other voters across the district. Back in Madison, our communications staff reinforced this direct voter contact work with digital ads and direct mail. Sen. Schachtner won by a whopping 10 percent – a victory that has energized our field team, activists, donors, volunteers, and people from across the state.
