Green Bay expands early voting hours
In the 2016 Spring Primary, voters who cast their ballots at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay were met with unusually long lines. Many of the voters were UWGB students who were forced to choose between their civic duty or missing classes, work, or important appointments.
That sparked several campaigns over the course of four years to expand early voting locations and hours in the City of Green Bay. After continued public pressure, meetings with UWGB student leaders and other voting rights groups, and the election of Mayor Eric Genrich, the city expanded voting hours at their downtown clerk's office for the 2020 February Primary.
The expansion was the first of its kind in years that led to early voting on Saturdays and hours on weekdays that extended beyond the end of the 9 to 5 workday.
