Bill Description
Wisconsin has one of the premier land acquisition programs in the country. It gives all people a place to swim, boat, fish, hunt, and relax in our beautiful state. This program is overwhelmingly popular and a critical component of our state's economy. AB 435 & SB 436 would support land acquisition and management to maintain the goals of the Knowles Nelson Stewardship program. It would reauthorize the program for another six years and allocate $72 million annually in bonding authority.
Current Status
AB 435 was introduced on Sept. 19, 2025, and referred to the Assembly Committee on Environment. It is available to be scheduled for a public hearing.
SB 436 was introduced on Sept. 29, 2025, and referred to the Senate Committee on Financial Institutions and Sporting Heritage. It is available to be scheduled for a public hearing.
