Bill Description
Healthy lakes are central to healthy habitats and Wisconsin’s $11.2 billion outdoor recreation economy. AB 1033 & SB 1025 endanger the health of our lakes by placing insufficient restrictions on wake surfing and other enhanced-wake activities, which can damage lakebeds, shorelines, and aquatic habitats.
Current Status
AB 1033 was introduced on Feb. 9, 2026, and referred to the Assembly Committee on State Affairs. A public hearing was held on Feb. 11, 2026, the bill passed out of committee on Feb. 12, 2026, and passed the full Assembly via voice vote on Feb. 19, 2026.
SB 1025 was introduced on Feb. 12, 2026, and referred to the Senate Committee on Transportation and Local Government. A public hearing was held on Feb. 19, 2026.
