Bill Description
Permanent health-based environmental standards ensure our water is safe to drink, or food is safe to eat, and our air is clean to breathe. SB 277 & AB 274 would put expiration dates on these protections, threatening our health and the health of future generations.
Current Status
SB 277 was introduced on May 21, 2025, and referred to the Senate Committee on Licensing, Regulatory Reform, State and Federal Affairs. It received a public hearing on Oct. 9, 2025, passed out of committee on Nov. 7, 2025, and passed the Senate on Feb. 11, 2026.
AB 274 was introduced on May 30, 2025, and referred to the Assembly Committee on Government Operations, Accountability, and Transparency. It received a public hearing on Oct. 9, 2025, and passed out of committee on Nov. 18, 2025. SB 277 passed the Assembly on Feb. 12, 2026.
Ask Gov. Evers to veto SB 277.
