It should be easy for absentee voters to know when their ballot is received and counted. SB 39 & AB 38 improve absentee ballot tracking by creating an absentee ballot text message confirmation system. This would give voters the opportunity to be automatically notified when their absentee ballot is received.
SB 39 was introduced on February 3, 2023, and referred to the Senate Committee on Government Operations, Elections and Consumer Protection. A public hearing was held on September 26, 2023, and the bill passed out of committee on October 3, 2023.
