SB 39 & AB 38 : Improving Absentee Ballot Tracking

Bill Description

It should be easy for absentee voters to know when their ballot is received and counted. SB 39 & AB 38 improve absentee ballot tracking by creating an absentee ballot text message confirmation system. This would give voters the opportunity to be automatically notified when their absentee ballot is received.


Current Status

SB 39 was introduced on February 3, 2023, and referred to the Senate Committee on Government Operations, Elections and Consumer Protection. AB 38 was introduced on February 13, 2023, and referred to the Assembly Committee on Campaigns and Elections. They are available to be scheduled for a public hearing.
