Bill Description
Wisconsinites should have a right to know and influence what chemicals are being added to our water. SB 316 & AB 318 would allow individuals to add certain chemicals to shared waters without DNR oversight and without the consent of impacted neighbors.
Current Status
SB 316 was introduced on May 31, 2023, and referred to the Senate Committee on Natural Resources. A public hearing was held on October 4, 2023, and the bill passed out of committee on February 8, 2024. The Senate passed SB 316 on February 20, 2024. AB 318 was introduced on June 9, 2023, and referred to the Assembly Committee on Environment. A public hearing was held on September 28, 2023, and the bill passed out of committee on February 8, 2024. The Assembly passed SB 316 on February 20, 2024. Governor Evers vetoed SB 316 on March 29, 2024.
