SB 712 & AB 727 : Protecting incarcerated Wisconsinites’ right to the outdoors

Bill Description

Every person deserves access to the benefits of nature. Research has demonstrated that access to natural settings help increase mental health benefits, which would have a positive impact on staff and incarcerated individuals. SB 712 & AB 727 would ensure every person has access to time outside.

AB 727 was introduced on Dec. 3, 2025, and referred to the Assembly Committee on Corrections. It is available to be scheduled for a public hearing.
