SB 854 & AB 875 : Providing new tools to county conservationists

Bill Description

Our counties are on the front lines of tackling climate change. They need the resources to be able to prepare for and address climate change-related challenges. SB 854 & AB 875 would help with this by expanding the Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection’s widely popular funding for county conservation staff, to include opportunities for funding county conservation staff focused on climate change and climate change resiliency.


Current Status

SB 875 was introduced on Jan. 15, 2026, and referred to the Senate Committee on Natural Resources, Veteran and Military Affairs. It is available to be scheduled for a public hearing.

AB 875 was introduced on Jan. 16, 2026, and referred to the Assembly Committee on Environment. It is available to be scheduled for a public hearing.
