To protect our health, we need to clean up contaminated properties – and people living in impacted areas deserve to have contaminated properties cleaned up as quickly as possible. Under current law, property owners are required to clean hazardous substances and pollution on their own property. SB 46 & AB 44 would remove this requirement and would allow pollution to go unchecked and uncleaned.
SB 46 was introduced on February 14, 2023, and referred to the Senate Committee on Economic Development and Technical Colleges. It is available to be scheduled for a public hearing. AB 44 was introduced on February 20, 2023, and referred to the Assembly Committee on Environment. It is available to be scheduled for a public hearing.
Ask your legislators to oppose SB 46 & AB 44.
