SB 769 & AB 839 : Funding Research on Agriculture and Climate Change

Bill Description

Across Wisconsin, climate change is fueling uncertainty around agricultural practices and food security. SB 769 & AB 839 require the Board of Regents of the UW System to fund two agriculture and climate change research positions assigned to the Division of Extension at UW-Madison. These research positions are critical to better understanding climate change’s potential impact on Wisconsin agriculture.

SB 769 was introduced on December 8, 2023, and referred to the Senate Committee on Universities and Revenue. It is available to be scheduled for a public hearing. AB 839 was introduced on December 22, 2023, and referred to the Assembly Committee on Colleges and Universities. It is available to be scheduled for a public hearing.
