Cynthia Hirsch hosts DOE Secretary Jennifer Granholm in Madison
Apr 04, 2024
Last week, I opened up my home in Madison to Department of Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm, Gov. Tony Evers, and top officials so we can spread the word about Biden’s Affordable Clean Energy Plan.
As you know, last fall, Wisconsin Conservation Voters launched our clean energy canvass to make people aware of the federal benefits available to them when making clean energy home improvements. We knocked on 76,000 doors and will be knocking on another 100,000 starting this month.
Our work is getting noticed by the White House and Department of Energy, and they’re interested in repeating these efforts across the country!
So, last Thursday, I worked with the Wisconsin Conservation Voters staff to host this event. I showed our guests the windows we replaced in our old home, and how we are now saving money on energy bills and will be getting a tax rebate.
We sat down for a group conversation with Sec. Granholm,
Executive Director Kerry Schumann, Gov. Evers, Rep. Mark Pocan, Madison
Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway, and Director of Wisconsin EcoLatinos Cristina
Carvajal. The news stations we invited spread the word of these efforts on TV stations around the state.
Your support got us here. Thanks to the generosity of members like you, we were able to expand this canvass program and make people around the state aware that they have the tools to be part of the climate solution – while saving money.
