Wisconsin Conservation Voters mobilizes membership to advocate for PFAS remediation in the state budget

May 16, 2023

MADISON – As the Joint Finance Committee plans to vote on PFAS funding in the state budget this week, Wisconsin Conservation Voters is mobilizing our 40,000-plus members and supporters to support Gov. Tony Evers’ $106 million proposal for PFAS remediation.

Government Affairs Manager Peter Burress had this to say:

“Because of years of organizing, advocacy, and working with impacted communities, conservation voters have made PFAS remediation a top priority at the State Capitol. We continued that momentum on April 25 at our Conservation Lobby Day. Over 200 people from across the state came together to ask their legislators to support funding for PFAS clean up.

“Over 70 communities around the state have confirmed PFAS toxicity in their water, putting their health in serious risk. Communities have spoken: they want clean drinking water. Now we are calling on members of the Joint Finance Committee to listen to their constituents and prioritize the health of Wisconsinites.”
