On Feb. 19, Gov. Tony Evers signed into law new legislative district maps. The new maps will help rectify more than a decade of GOP-gerrymandering for many Wisconsin communities.
The maps will return much needed balance to the state’s legislative districts. With fair maps, the legislature will be more accountable to their constituents and focus on the issues communities care most about: access to clean water, climate action, and the freedom to vote.
This is the culmination of nearly a decade of work to reverse actions taken in the Walker Era meant to permanently install a stranglehold on Wisconsin’s democracy and future. Gov. Evers is ushering in the end of that era, and a bright new beginning for Wisconsin.
